A UK registered Paramedic for over 20 years with 12 years working for the NHS UK state ambulance service in all areas from paramedic on police helicopter to developing the first community paramedic schemes. Worked in EOC, CBRN, Education, Senior operational management and clinical supervision
Taught clinical skills and theory at all levels from BLS to University degree level. Specialise in developing advanced clinical skills and the introduction of new clinical equipment.
Numerous clinical deployments over the last 10 years including nearly all of Europe (including Russia), Asia, North America, Central America Africa, The Middle East, Australasia & Polar regions. Professor Paul Richard Hughes MB ChB (Hons) MBA MMedSci FRCA FFICM MCGI RAF (Retd.)

Medical Advisor

Dr Paul Hughes is a consultant in anaesthesia and intensive care medicine at Mid-Cheshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. He is the lead consultant for clinically effective practice and chair of the Research and Development committee. He regularly provides medical cover at Oulton Park racetrack in his spare time. He is a Visiting Professor at the University of Chester’s Institute of Medicine. After a career in the Royal Air Force he has held consultant posts in Leeds, North Wales and Cheshire. He has extensive experience in leadership and medical management having held a variety of medical management posts including Assistant Medical Director in Betsi Cadwaladr University Local Health Board, Medical Director of the Welsh Ambulance Service and latterly Medical Director of Warrington and Halton Hospitals NHS Trust. His interests include management of trauma and pre-hospital care, leadership, quality improvement and audit, team training and organisational politics.
